There are two different types of research, one Primary and one Secondary. Primary being experience first hand by the person carrying out the investigation and secondary is where the researcher uses another source of information that does not belong to them. PRIMARY: Primary research can be collected via interviews, surveys and questionnaires. Or you can just use your own knowledge. Overall just collecting all information for a task by yourself or with a team mate. Unlike Secondary which uses other peoples opinions on the topic of research and not their knowledge. In todays lesson we each presented a presentation on each narrative theory, I will be talking about "The Heroes Journey" in this weeks blog.   Every story has a beginning, middle and end. At the beginning you introduce your hero/heroine. You see what there lifestyle is, what their hobbies are etc. They then have to face the first hurdle which will be where the storyline begins. A lot of bad things will come with this first hurdle that the protagonist (hero/heroine) will have to resolve.  The second hurdle is refusal. This will make the audience aware that the character is stubborn and not so confident. Their fears take over their natural instincts.  When the protagonist "meets the mentor", their whole perspective changes. With helpful guidance from another person will be the crucial turning point in the storyline or plot.  When the protagonist crosses the threshold, the hero is now ready to take action whether it be physical or mental.  The ...

In todays lesson we examined and tried out he technique of "foley". Foley is the reproduction of everyday sound effects added to a film, video or any other type of media. As a class, we watched a foley expert in his daily routine of how he creates the interesting yet common sounds.  He first went into a large room full of scrap materials such as metal, sand, weights etc. It is recorded and re-applied by a technician in a booth just outside the room. Step-by-Step he went through the process of how he manipulates the sound of certain objects.  We watched a scene from the critically acclaimed "Groundhog Day" where Bill Murray and Andie Macdowell are discussing a very important matter in the cafe, the sound effects start of very usual as there is dialogue and background sounds of dishes, cutlery and different types of dialogue. Then all of a sudden Murray has a short line which has great meaning behind it and the diegetic scene transitions into a non-diegetic scene....

Today we started shooting for our silent film, the entire class watched several silent films starring Charlie Chaplin. So that sparked inspiration for all of us. As the film was silent, we had to add emphasis on certain aspects such as, the way that we portray comedic humour based on our facial expressions and body language.  By over exaggerating certain things we added over the top sound effects and music. The song used in the film was titled "fun in a bottle".  Our story line was based on a robbery of a ladies bag. The Fat Cat: This animation was written and directed by "Mole Hill" they etched the drawings out of wax.  There is a very strong political message behind the story about greed and how "whatever fat cat wants it will get". The cat is symbolises the greed and selfishness in todays society and the government. The fat cat also takes food from the mice then eats them whole so maybe this depicts another symbol for the governments greed.  The narrator is speaking very bluntly and in simple grammar. ZERO: This is a 12 minute short film that was sweet and had a much needed message. It was created using non stop motion which included wool people.  the animators did a very good job of creating a large variety of characters.
