Christmas animation
At the beginning of Steve's lesson we watched two animations on the subject of christmas. To start, we watched a modern day animation which was from the perspective of a little girl on christmas eve. Even though it started off calmly, santa clause was not how he seems. there ended up being a slightly disturbing representation of the man himself as he ended up forming into a terrifying creature.
The second film we watched was around 5 to 10 minutes long and was filmed and set in the 1930s. it was based in an orphanage on christmas day morning, although in the beginning scene we see that the children are having a jolly time, all that begins to change. one by one we see all the children's toys begin to brake and disintegrate. yet a stranger that looks a lot like Chris Cringle sees all the children in tears as he peeps through the window and has a marvellous idea to make them all toys out of objects he finds in the orphanage.
i found the first animation quite disturbing as the music had a very loud and annoying tone to it. yet the animation itself included simple aspects of childhood trauma I.E the shivering in the bed sheets was very articulate. The second animation i enjoyed more because it fits the aesthetic of what the christmas holidays should look like. However, the ending was quite odd.
