magazine project week 2

Things needed for a great photoshoot:
  • use a longer lens (70mm)
  • shallow depth of field (setting aperture to low F number)
  • focus on eyes
  • place muse in the best light (think about shadows)
  • balance image (layout- rule of thirds)
  • crop (emphasis)
Lighting:

We will need three point lighting (key, fill and back). Key lighting is softened by a diffuser and gets placed at the left of the muse, this is the most natural light of the three. Fill lighting is placed at the right side of the use and is also softened with a diffuser, this will control any unwanted shadowland balance the light. Last but not least back, this can be placed behind the muse this does not have a diffuser which means that it can be used without the key and fill lights for a darker/deeper photo.

Magazine cover:

Todays session was full of chaos and excitement, we got put into groups of three to five and created a set for each individual photoshoot. I worked with Willow and Lily on my photoshoot and together we created the idea of gathering colour gels and lacing them over each artificial light to give an illusion of neon lights. For my individual photoshoot I used green, purple and orange colour gels over the Key, Fill and Back lighting systems to create an over all colour of pink. The cover of my magazine "BRICK" has a white border with the title and date in a black coloured font called "neou". the reason I have made such a neutral toned background is so that the photograph of the muse stands out to the reader.
