magazine week 3

I have carried on with my 4 covers of BRICK magazine. I am making them all look different but i am still keeping the same pleasurable aesthetic. The colours that i have chosen to use are magenta, mint green, baby blue and tangerine. i have chosen these colours because they compliment each other in various different ways. I would prefer to take more photos next week and have them taken outside in a more natural light rather then artificial.

For my 4 covers i took inspiration from magazine covers such as Wonderland, I.D and DAZED. Wonderland mostly. I decided to have an interesting yet plain border so that the photograph would stand out a lot more.

i struggled a lot with trying to make them different from each other. i very desperately wanted to include aspects of nature and urban culture. i ended up including a mixture of both in my designs with the font being bold and bright and the background being neutral toned.
For this cover i used the plastic beach font from the GORILLAZ album cover. this is my most
cartoon like cover by far. This is my favourite cover so far, I made the fonts on the cover the
same colours as the lighting in the photoshoot.
The background on this cover is a white brick wall,
this was the first issue I made so i feel like this is the most
aesthetically pleasing. Overall the magazine cover
is a true example of what is in the magazine as the
background and the title "brick" compliment each other.
3 point lighting:

  • Key light
  • fill light
  • back light
I covered the back light in an orange gel to achieve the colour tint on the face i also did the same on the fill light with a pink gel so that the colours would blend in together. I left the key light white so that I had a blank base for the background.
