Arrival, the review.

Image
Based on the 1998 short story "Story of your life", Dennis Villeneuve's "Arrival" is a scientifically accurate view of how humanity deals with their first alien encounter which follows the main protagonist Louise Banks, (Amy Adams). The film begins with linguist teacher Dr Banks playing with her young daughter Hannah, we see many other scenes of her grow older into a teenager and watch her succumb to cancer. The name Hannah is a palindrome which gives us our first clue of how the infinite loops work and how they are connected to the film as a whole. This all takes place before the main story line is seen. Immediately, we assume this is her past. The film then fast forwards into the present which is depicted that she is living an average life. Until we see that during a class of hers the world is shocked to learn that 12 extra terrestrial ships have landed in random locations across the globe. She is soon enlisted in the U.S army to translate communications. At t...

magazine project week 2

Things needed for a great photoshoot: use a longer lens (70mm) shallow depth of field (setting aperture to low F number) focus on eyes place muse in the best light (think about shadows) balance image (layout- rule of thirds) crop (emphasis)  Lighting: We will need three point lighting (key, fill and back). Key lighting is softened by a diffuser and gets placed at the left of the muse, this is the most natural light of the three. Fill lighting is placed at the right side of the use and is also softened with a diffuser, this will control any unwanted shadowland balance the light. Last but not least back, this can be placed behind the muse this does not have a diffuser which means that it can be used without the key and fill lights for a darker/deeper photo. Magazine cover: Todays session was full of chaos and excitement, we got put into groups of three to five and created a set for each individual photoshoot. I worked with Willow and Lily on my photoshoot and tog...

Preparing for the MAGAZINEEEEEEE

Image
Today I created a magazine cover with the title of BRICK.  The font is very bold, yet i've gone for amore simplistic look for the entire cover itself. it has a white border with the title in bold black ink at the top so that it adds more emphasis on the photo. I have decided to stage my photoshoot indoors with a solid colour for the background, the reason i have chosen to do this is so that the reader's main focus is on the muse. For my photoshoot i have decided to collect inspiration from magazines such as I.D. and WONDERLAND. I have gathered various images of these images and laced them on a mood board i made on photoshop. The word I have picked to describe me are: Mysterious Film Obsessed Eyebrows

Being At Bath College

My first day at bath college has been a whirlwind of excitement and confusion. First of all, all the member of the course invited us up to one of the very top rooms in the school. Oh it was soooooo intimidating at first. i only knew three people. the members of staff introduced them selves in series of power point presentations which were designed to fit their personality in every way. We all left the introduction at around 11:15 and proceeded down to the lower floors in 4 groups of approximately 15 students. It was very confusing for me at first because i enrolled late so i wasn't included on the register at first, but by the end of the day it worked itself out. I have met some wonderful people who share a big interest of mine which is film.
